Port of Zeebrugge registered an increase of 7.2% in the first quarter of 2018 in comparison with the same period in 2017. The total cargo throughput amounted to 9,365,000 tonnes. Strong growth was registered in the container and roro sectors, by 14% and 9.7% respectively.
The roro traffic increased by 9.7% (3.9 mio tonnes). The traffic on the UK sustained itself. Ireland and Scandinavia gained ground by 12.1% and 9.6% respectively.
The container traffic grew by 14 % to 3.9 mio tonnes. (+16.3% in TEUs)
In the first quarter a total of 719,250 new cars were handled (+0.7%)
The liquid bulk dropped by 6.2% to 985,000 tonnes.
The solid bulk decreased by 5.8% to 311,000 tonnes.
The breakbulk cargoes fell by 29.8% to 261,000 tonnes.
