From January till September 2010 the total cargo throughput in Zeebrugge rose by 14.9 % to a volume of 37.3 million tons. The roro traffic continued its recovery and rocketed by 35.9 % to a volume of 9.2 million tons.
After 9 months Zeebrugge handled 1,159,642 new cars or 26.1 % more than in crisis year 2009. The container traffic registered a growth of 14.3 % in comparison to the same period in 2009. The volume accounted for 20.3 million tons. In teu the container volume rose by 15.8 % to 1,905,895 teus. The conventional cargo increased by 34.4 % to 820,137 tons. The liquid bulk fell by 6.2 % to 5.7 million tons, mainly due to less LNG supplies in comparison to record year 2009.
The solid bulk grew by 3 % to 1.3 million tons.
