On 24 September two brand new roro vessels were baptised simultaneously by the Luxemburg shipping company CLdN (Cobelfret).
Both the m/s "Vespertine" and the m/s "Palatine" were baptised in the Britannia dock in the Zeebrugge outer port. Both vessels are deployed on the Zeebrugge-Dublin route, where the Ireland services of CLdN are concentrated.
The Vespertine and Palatine are especially equipped to load containers. The containers are loaded by means of mafis and cassettes.
Both vessels measure 195 meters in length, 26 meters in width and have a 7 meter draught. The capacity accounts for 2,900 lane meters, the equivalent of 390 40' containers, of which 50 reefer containers, or the equivalent of 163 trailers and 105 new cars.
The Vespertine and Palatine are part of a new-construction project, in order, to update the current roro fleet in anticipation of the changing market circumstances.
Another 4 newly built vessels will be deployed in the near future.
