In a couple of years the port of zeebrugge will be better accessible by bicycle. This is the result of the 'Bicycle Masterplan' which was presented to the press on 11 August 2010. The new masterplan is an initiative of the Zeebrugge port authority, the City of Bruges and the Province of West Flanders.
The objective of the Masterplan is to allow bicyclists to reach their destination via the shortest route. Both the commuter traffic and the recreative bicycle traffic are included in the Masterplan. When constructing the new highway A11 a safe bicycle infrastructure will be established as well. This new infrastructure will be connected with the internal bicycle network in the port of Zeebrugge. Also an agreeable bike connection will be established between Zwankendamme and Lissewege. These are only a few examples.
